5 Reasons Why My Trip Was Way Cooler Because of Hostels

Hey traveler, I just got back from an amazing US road trip! I stayed in hostels the entire time and it was seriously the best decision I ever made.

Here are 5 Reasons Why You Should Consider Staying in Hostels:

😁 Meeting Diverse People: One of the best parts about staying in hostels was meeting all different travelers from all over the world. I met people from Europe, South America, Asia, and even some Americans who were exploring (or #vanlife). It was so cool to hear all the stories and learn about other cultures. I even ended up exploring the area with my housemates together and had a great time!

🥾 Exploring the Area: Hostels often host tours or excursions available for guests - most times they are FREE. I signed up for a hiking tour with other travelers staying at a hostel in Colorado, and we ended up seeing some incredible views that I definitely wouldn't have found on my own. The staff at the hostel were always ready to give us recommendations on the best places to eat or visit in the area, so even finding local businesses and local favorites was easier. (Didn’t end up eating from a convenience store.)

Why hostels are so cool…

Staying in hostels offers travelers a personalized experience that is focused on building relationships with the guests and offering localized recommendations for exploring the area. Hostel owners live and love their towns, cities and regions - they know how to best travel like a local and the are always ready to share helpful tips with their guests.

👍🏻 Budget-Friendly: Staying in hostels was a great way to save money on lodging. I was able to stay in some really cool places, near the best attractions (like Glacier National Park) for a fraction of the cost of a hotel. Most of the hostels had communal kitchens where guests can cook their own meals, which helped me save even more money (DoorDash after a night out is a budget drain, lol).

🔐 Feeling Safe: One thing that was really important to me while traveling alone was feeling safe. Luckily, hostels are often located in safe areas and have security measures like key card access, reception and lockers to keep guests and their belongings secure. Plus, I was always surrounded by other travelers and hostel staff who were happy to help if I ever needed anything.

🙌 Like-Minded Travelers: Lastly, staying in hostels allowed me to meet other like-minded travelers who were exploring the world just like me. We all had a passion for travel and shared tips and stories around the fire pit or dining table. It felt amazing to connect with people who were on the same wavelength as me. #traveltheworld

Staying in hostels is for the adventurous, the curious, the young, the driven, the self-made, the groups of friends and the business traveler. Travel opens doors and changes lives.
